Zinc is an important wear additive for older engines which I believe it was removed for environmental reasons, not entirely sure. Many users will put this into motor oil for vehicles older than 1996, but zinc is also important for small engines in outdoor power equipment.I originally purchased this to add to the hydraulic fluid on a 1996 Grasshopper 725 after replacing incorrect hydraulic fluid with a vendor recommended Mobil1 15W50 full synthetic motor oil. In doing some research online, one of the primary differences between the Grasshopper fluid and using motor oil is the zinc content of the fluid. I added two bottles to the 2.5 gallon tank as the label reads that you should add 2 ounces of this additive per quart.I also add one of these bottles to each 5 quart jug of Mobil1 15W50 full synthetic oil that I now use for my 2015 Hustler FasTrak SD mower. I use the zinc treated oil in both the Kawasaki motor as well as the Hydro-Gear zero turn transmissions.

I have a pinzgauer 710m . This works well for this air cooled engine.

Your older engine needs more Zinc. Not enough in todays oil supply. This stuff is what you need.

I’m no oil scientist, but they tell me my flat tappet engine likes zinc, and that modern oils don’t have enough, so I add this at oil changes. I don’t have a blind study set up to verify that it actually helps, but I can tell you I’m running it in two 150,000 mile + Discovery 2s that just keep on going. And I’ll keep doing it.The bottle seems a good size, but when you have to add most of the container, I’m not sure the point of the little squirter. Just unscrew the lid!
