My burner and filter previously, on occasion would get clogged with sludge and require a blowout to return to normal. This usually happened when I had a little less than a 1/4 tank. The boiler would run for 3-5 minutes, then gurgle and shutoff. Last heating season I started putting 1/2 a bottle of Comstar super heat in at a 1/4 tank. I stick the tank and usually can feel the sludge on the bottom; currently, Iβ touching the bottom and no sludge feeling. Burner has been running fine and I use about 4 onceβs prior to each delivery. Could cost less, but so far seems to do the job. Followup: Super Eight continues to keep sludge and or water from compromising my burner; Iβve conducted water paste teste since using and there is no evidence of water.: When I stick the tank , I touch bottom?(metallic bottom sound) , no sludge feeling. Unfortunately, I was about to buy again, but even though the advertised price is $12.07which should cost 36.96 is suddenly $33 and change. Iβll look elsewhere

Update 1 year later: it’s that time of the year again. Leaves are changing colors, nights are cool in the mid 40’s, and my heating system is coming back to life after many months of hibernation. I used another bottle of this at the start of fall and once every two or three fill ups. I am still impressed by this product and it is keeping our heating system in tip-top shape.Original review: I had a clogged filter and, while waiting for my new filter to arrive, tried a bottle of this in my heating oil (diesel) tank. Wow! What a difference. My entire filter looked brand new. Completely impressed after just one use. Iβll be using this product regularly from now on.

Must have cleaned the tank and lines some as the filter starting clogging up after about 3 or 4 days after adding it to the tank. Don’t know if it cleans the burner and combustion area. It doesn’t make the fuel oil last longer.

I’ve worked his product before. All other times when shipped it was shipped wrapped in multiple bags and token care of how was ship. Receive package today single bag product leaking through the bag and smelling the whole house up when delivered. People need to be spayed special attention to Packaging fuel items in future.

I added a full bottle to the fuel tank before it was filled completely. So far the furnace is working fine.

I’ve been using this product for the past 7 years. Just one bottle, treats a 275 gallon tank of oil. It helps stabilize the oil, eliminate water, kills sludge and bacteria (mold and slime), and has kept my oil flowing smoothly from the tank to the furnace all this time. I don’t start the heating season without it!
