Diesel exhaust fluid is one of the key elements of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) process used by most medium and heavy-duty engine builders to meet EPA 2010 regulations. is a non-toxic solution of 67.5 percent purified water and 32.5 percent ultra pure automotive grade urea. Blue DEF is not a fuel or fuel additive. Instead, when injected into the exhaust stream and passed over a catalyst, helps convert NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapour, two harmless and natural components of the air. is stable, colourless and odourless, and meets ISO Standards 22241 for purity and composition and is an American Petroleum Institute (API) certified diesel exhaust fluid. These are the highest quality and safety standards in place to ensure optimum SCR performance. Making sure you do not run out of in a SCR equipped truck is simple, watch the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) gauge, which is part of the diesel fuel gauge, for when it is time to refill. DEF is stored in a dedicated tank next to the fuel tank on the driver’s side. The tanks range in size from 6 to 23 gallons depending on the truck’s application. The DEF tank fill opening is designed to accommodate a DEF fill nozzle to ensure only DEF is put into the tank. A diesel fuel nozzle will not fit into the DEF tank opening.
- Mixture of 32.5 percent high purity synthetic urea and 67.5 percent deionized water
- Helps convert nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapor for cleaner emissions
- Improves fuel economy by up to 5 percent
- Inject the fluid into your exhaust stream with a specialized dosing module

Some have said this is like reviewing water, but really it is like reviewing pee. Good grief if my dad would have told me that we would be paying $5.6 for a gallon of pee, I would have sent him off to the crazy farm. Now, I’m a Nurse, so please get the JOKE. o.0Okay for real now…This works in the new 3.0 Eco diesels which takes in the Jeep and Ram 1500. It works like it is supposed to work. The price however has gone from 11.6 to 13.99 in just a few months. Come on Amazon what happened to lowering the price with more sold? And that is the reason for 4 stars. Before the update a few months back my jeep was drinking this like water,I know that sounds nasty from what I said above but live with it, during a few hot days. It also will use a lot while using Chevron’s fuel. It might be because Chevron uses clean low sulfur fuel, but this and every other diesel engine in use from 2007 uses ultra low sulfur. I just figured this out and hope it fixes the excess use of the DEF.I noticed while driving over 2000 miles in a week that it used less DEF then my Jeep until I put a few tanks of the Chevron. Thats when the gage started to drop like the stock market in my Ram 1500. Maybe I’ll update this review after another 2 grand of the cleaner fuel.To close this out Blue DEF has the best price. I looked for DEF pumps at the truck stops but they were not around the car pumps. Going back around the big rigs was a little intimidating, and I’m not sure the nozzle would have fit. I know the larger diesel nozzle works on my truck but not the jeep. I’m not sure about the def other then they are the same size on the Ram and Jeep.

Purchased to fill ‘AdBlue’ tank in 14″ Porsche Cayenne Diesel. This same engine is also in the Audi SUVs and VW SUV’s so I imagine it will work just fine in those as well. I was frustrated when the dealership was charging me $30 per liter plus labor to fill my Adblue tank so I decided to pursue a more economical solution. Porsche, to no surprise, strongly advises to use their AdBlue from their service centers. The manual says to use ISO 22241 compliant exhaust fluid (this is!). I decided to take the chance and I have had no problems to speak of in 5 months. I’ll continue to fill my own AdBlue take using Blue DEF. Filling the tank is simple. Remove the spare tire from the trunk of the vehicle to access the tank. I also purchased a small funnel to prevent spillage. The Blue Def container comes with a useful hose to assist with pouring the fluid and made the process very easy. Now moving onto the oil change…

It’s kind of absurd to order DEF online but I couldn’t resist the price point (roughly half that of my local auto parts store). Each of the four 2.5 gallon jugs comes in a box (just like retail) which is then packaged in a dedicated shipping box with lots of padding suitable for delicate treasures, never mind urea. So after the 100lbs shipment arrives, there’s four large boxes to recycle, lots of padding paper, plus the def jug/box. Five stars because this is exactly what the seller claimed it is and at a great price, I just feel kind of bad generating that much recycling.

Diesel fuel, oil and DEF fluid are only going up in price and in some areas shortages. As the war on fossil fuel continues its going to get worse before it gets better. I’m stocking up now. Besides the fact that it’s just a good product!!
